Launch Night 7 May Poster

If you’ve been searching for what’s on in Stratford-upon-Avon, live music in Stratford, or things to do in Stratford this May, there’s finally something new to shout about.

Stratford Sound Pathways (SSP) launches on 7 May 2026 with a bold mission: to bring live music back to Stratford and rebuild a thriving grassroots scene for the town.

For years, Stratford-upon-Avon has been known for its world-class theatre and heritage, but live music has been missing from the picture. That’s changing now.

A new era for gigs and grassroots music in Stratford

Stratford Sound Pathways is a year-long programme of gigs, artist development, and community opportunities, running from May 2026 through to mid-2027.

Based at Rother Street Arts House in the heart of town, SSP is creating a home for gigs in Stratford-upon-Avon a place where artists, audiences, and creatives can come together and build something real.

This isn’t just about one night. It’s about building a sustainable local music scene.

The need for this was highlighted by The Stratford Herald, which recently spotlighted the lack of opportunities for young musicians in the area. Stratford Sound Pathways picks up that conversation and turns it into action.

What to expect: gigs, opportunities, and a growing scene

If you’re looking for gigs near you, gigs in Stratford, or even gigs in the West Midlands, SSP is set to become a key part of the local music calendar.

Across the year, the programme will include:

  • Regular live music events in Stratford

  • Opportunities for local artists to perform

  • Touring acts coming through the town

  • Training and real-world experience in the music industry

  • Community-driven projects and collaborations

Whether you’re a musician, photographer, writer, promoter, or just someone who loves live music, there’s a place for you.

And importantly, this isn’t just for one type of artist or one age group.

From indie folk to hip hop, from emerging artists to experienced performers, Stratford Sound Pathways is building a scene that reflects everyone. This isn’t a closed circle, it’s an open door.

Launch night: 7 May 2026

Looking for things to do in May or what’s coming up in Stratford? This is your answer.

The launch event on 7 May 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for live music in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Line-up:

  • Big Image (From Kidderminster, think Ibiza Indie - perfect T4 on the beach tunes!)

  • Heart Sauce (Art Rock from Leicester, inspired by Bowie, with art boy sensibilities)

  • ŁËX (Stratford artist & Apply to Play winner, find out more below)

Expect a night that blends touring talent with homegrown energy, setting the tone for everything SSP is about.

Meet ŁËX: Stratford’s Apply to Play winner

Opening the night is ŁËX, a Stratford-based artist who fought off strong competition to win SSP’s Apply to Play slot.

ŁËX isn’t easy to define and that’s exactly the point.

His music sits in the tension between opposites: escape and isolation, chaos and control, confidence and vulnerability. Refusing to stick to one genre, ŁËX creates music that pulls from across influences and emotions, challenging listeners to feel something real.

He describes his journey like this:"I would definitely say my upbringing played a huge part. My mother listened to all sorts of music that rubbed off on me growing up, listening to the likes of Meatloaf, KISS, AC/DC, Bryan Adams and Cher. However, on my father's side, he was a radio presenter for Big City Radio Birmingham in the early 2010s… I've always been surrounded by music and developed a strong admiration for the performing arts."

And his sound continues to evolve:"At the moment I’m definitely finding a newfangled taste for the 90s rock scene… I fuse this with the sounds I’m already passionate about… combining elements of angst, anxiety, mania and pure electric feel to create pumping anthem tracks."

ŁËX represents exactly what Stratford Sound Pathways is here to support: bold, original artists carving out their own space.

Missed out this time? Don’t worry! Applications are open year-round for future shows and opportunities.

Why Stratford Sound Pathways matters

Stratford sits in a prime location between Birmingham, Oxford, Worcester, Gloucester, and Reading but for years, touring artists have passed straight through. SSP is changing that.

By building a consistent programme of live music, connecting local artists with the wider industry, and creating real opportunities behind the scenes, Stratford Sound Pathways is putting the town back on the map for live music.

It’s about more than gigs. It’s about community, creativity, and giving people a reason to stay, connect, and build something together.
